Money Train 4: Slot Overview
Get your tickets, folks, because a little ol' caboose called Money Train 4 is about to chug its way on into town. If there are any slots that need little introduction, it is those in the Money Train range. Big, a little scary, hugely entertaining, brutal, yet potentially hugely rewarding, the Money Train range of slots has been a flagship number at Relax Gaming since the first one dropped back in 2019. With each release, the games have gotten bigger and bigger, and true to form, Money Train 4 is the biggest one of them all. After seeing Money Train 2 and Money Train 3 blow their stacks, that is actually quite a frightening proposal. But, if you're up for another ride on the train, keeping in mind this will be the last chance to do so, please step aboard with us.
Yep, you heard that right; Money Train 4 is planned to be the final instalment in the series, and this ain't a game which is going to fade gracefully into the background without kicking up some dust. Dust there is in the main game, too, as Relax Gaming has transported Money Train 4 off-world as part of an exploration, terraforming, or resource extraction exercise – players are free to indulge in a bit of make-believe here. Imagination isn't necessary, though, because Relax Gaming has crafted a gorgeous futuristic dystopian world reminiscent of Terminator 2 for Money Train 4 to inhabit, switching from bright and sunny in the base game to rainy and a bit oppressive in the bonus round. Classily done no matter the mode with graphics and cinematic quality sound, which give Money Train 4 a slot/video game/movie crossover feel.
When ready to step on board, players may choose a stake of 10 p/c to $/€6 per spin with access to two bonus buys a click or two away. Guess what? Yes, Money Train 4 is a highly volatile slot, no surprises there, producing an RTP of 96.1% or 96.5% when buying the feature. Its base game is played on a 6x6 sized grid, and using a scatter pays system, it awards regular wins when at least 8 identical high pay symbols are in view, or 10 identical low pay symbols, anywhere on the reels.
Its 8 pay symbols are split into low pay card ranks – diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades, as well as 4 high pay character symbols. The lowest paying scatter wins award 0.4 to 1.2 times the bet, while the most valuable wins, made up of 36 matching symbols, pay 100 to 1,000 times the bet. Money Train 4 does not have a wild symbol, but it has loads of other symbols to cover in the next section.
Money Train 4: Slot Features
As well as the infamous Money Cart Bonus Round giving heft to these slots like a ton of bricks, Money Train 4 has a Respins feature in the base game, along with a bonus buy.
Respins Feature
This feature may trigger at the end of any spin. The symbol most present on the reels becomes sticky, and a respin is awarded, which lands only blanks, multipliers or more of the chosen symbol. Landing a multiplier or pay symbol keeps the feature going - pay symbols stick, multipliers do not. When multipliers land, they are added together and multiply the final win. Respins end when no new symbols land.
Money Cart Bonus Round
This feature is triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols land in the base game and is played on a starting grid 6x4 in size. Persistent symbols may substitute for scatter symbols when triggering the round. The triggering symbols reveal a value as a multiplier of the bet, and 3 respins are awarded, which reset when new symbols land. If a Persistent symbol triggers the bonus, then it activates before the first spin. When a row is filled with symbols, an extra row is opened, and any symbols on this row perform their action. Up to 4 extra rows can be added like this. Money Train slots are famous for their special feature symbols, and Money Train 4 has a stack of them:
- Bonus Symbols – reveal a value of 1 to 10 times the bet.
- Collector – collects all visible values and adds them to its own value.
- Persistent Collector – collects all visible values and adds them to its own value at the end of that spin and each following spin. It does not collect its own value.
- Adjacent Collector – collects all the values from the adjacent positions and adds them to its own value.
- Persistent Adjacent Collector – collects all the values from the adjacent positions and adds them to its own value on that spin and each following spin.
- Payer – reveals a value, then adds it to all other visible symbols.
- Persistent Payer – reveals a value, then adds it to all other visible symbols on that spin and each following spin. Does not pay itself.
- Adjacent Payer – reveals a value, then adds it to all adjacent symbols.
- Persistent Adjacent Payer – reveals a value, then adds it to all adjacent symbols on the spin and each following spin.
- Sniper – doubles the values of 3 to 8 other Bonus symbols. It can act on the same Bonus symbol more than once.
- Persistent Sniper – doubles the values of 3 to 8 other Bonus symbols on that spin and each following spin. It can act on the same Bonus symbol more than once.
- Collector Payer – selects 3 to 5 symbols as targets, adds their values to its own and then pays out the updated value to each of its targets.
- Persistent Collector Payer – at the end of each spin, selects 3 to 5 symbols as targets, adds their values to its own and then pays out the updated value to each of its targets.
- Arms Dealer – converts 1 to 4 Bonus symbols into a feature symbol, then after the conversion, the new feature symbol performs its action.
- Persistent Arms Dealer – converts 1 Bonus symbol into a feature symbol at the end of the spin and each following spin. After the conversion, the new feature symbol performs its action.
- Necromancer – revives 2 to 7 already used non-persistent feature symbols. The same symbol can be targeted several times.
- Persistent Necromancer - revives 1 to 7 already used non-persistent feature symbols at the end of the spin and each following spin. The same symbol can be targeted several times.
- Persistent Shapeshifter - Turns into one of these features after every spin – Collector, Payer, Sniper, Collector Payer, Arms Dealer or Unlocker.
- Unlocker – unlocks a locked row.
- Reset Plus – increases the starting value of the spin count by +1.
- Upgrader – Upgrades 1 to 3 feature symbols to Persistent versions.
Buy Feature
The buy feature gives players access to the bonus round. There are two choices – 100x the bet to trigger the feature, or 500x the bet to trigger the feature with 1 Persistent Symbol.
Money Train 4: Slot Verdict
Money Train 4 brought to mind the proverb 'All good things must come to an end.' From the relatively speaking humble beginnings of Money Train (2019) to the phenomenal step up that was Money Train 2 (2020), to the futuristic restyling of Money Train 3 (2022), to the almost video game/movie crossover of Money Train 4 and a bunch of Money Carts in between, the MT franchise is almost unmatched in the online gambling world. It's a struggle to think of many franchises which have been so successful. The success has certainly not been built on hype either, no sirree. Money Train slots have forged a well-deserved reputation for ridiculously entertaining features and nuclear-level big win clips. Each release builds on the last, and Money Train 4 continues this successful formula, being bigger and more formidable than ever.
It also looks and sounds as good as ever, perhaps better. The off-world setting is an ideal place to finish the series off, with its Dune, Rogue 1, Terminator 2, or take your pick as the preferred pretend location. Funny, one of the big changes has also occurred in the base game with the use of the scatter pays win system. There did seem to be a number of dead spins, but the Respins feature also did a pretty good job of offsetting this when it triggered. Basically, solid results are technically possible in the base game, which should be of benefit to non-bonus-buying players. Still, it's the Money Cart round that most players are likely here for, and again, Money Train 4 does not disappoint. Relax Gaming has raised the number of feature symbols providing a huge variety of effects to look out for. What can we say? Money Train slots have repeatedly proven how absurdly good they can be when feature symbols are playing off of each other, and Money Train 4 appears to be no different.
That leaves winning potential, which has risen with each new release to finally rest on 150,000x the bet for Money Train 4. Unlike a lot of games that toss around stratospheric numbers, there's an air of inevitability about Money Train 4 hitting its cap sooner or later. The only question is how ludicrous the win will be achieved. So, with bittersweet emotions, Money Train 4 pulls the curtains shut on one of the most successful slot franchises of all time and does so in absolute style.
Essential
Money Train 4 is an impressive, if bittersweet, ending to one of the most entertaining and popular series of slots ever produced.
