Snowflake Sorcery: Slot Overview
Welcome, players, to the cutely iced-over domain of Snowflake Sorcery, where an ice witch and her sisters have woken up from sleep to sling a bit of magic around. The magic comes in the form of added wild symbols, and since the witches can level up, their magic effects do as well. Snowflake Sorcery, as you might have gathered, is a cute escape from reality, part video game (kind of), part slot. Well, mostly slot, and has been designed by software provider Stakelogic, a studio that's no stranger to making cute games.
With a look that is loosely Relax Gaming-ish, aka Snake Arena, players peer down into a chilly world of rocks, trees, and snow. Sitting on stone tiles, with flaming pillars at each corner, is Snowflake Sorcery's 5x5 gaming grid. A gentle, sort of wind chimes soundtrack finishes the picture on a rather adorbs scene. Not often do you get to use the word adorbs in a review.
If Snowflake Sorcery's atmos provokes a positive reaction as opposed to bile rising in the throat, then by picking a stake of 20 c to $/€80, a gambler may take part. Once that's out of the way, the next decision is whether to tap the Super Stake button or not. Switching this ante bet on increases the stake by 50%, doubling the chance of getting into free spins as a result. The game's maximum RTP has been recorded as 96% with medium volatility. Lower return models have been created as well, so this is something to look out for.
To work out whether landed symbols form wins or not, Snowflake Sorcery has 20 paylines, awarding wins left to right, starting on the leftmost reel. Four rocks displaying moons, stars, eyes, and snowflakes are the low-pay symbols, awarding 2 to 8 times the stake for a 5 symbol formation. Higher-paying symbols include witches' hats, books, cauldrons, frogs, and cats. Hitting 5 OAK picture symbol winning combinations pays 10 to 250 times your bet.
Snowflake Sorcery: Slot Features
In Snowflake Sorcery, Witches may appear to add wilds to the reels. Witches can level up, and the more levelled up they are the more wilds they can add. This the Witches are able to do in the base game as well as in free spins where levels persist.
Witch Level Feature
In the base game, a Witch may trigger above any reel or reels on any spin. The Witch will be of a random level. The levels are displayed above the reels and are highlighted to indicate which level is activated. There are 5 levels representing a different Witch. The Witch level determines how many wild symbols the Witch will cast onto the reels, either in diagonal directions or straight down. Wilds are placed randomly along the picked direction. Wild symbols do not land on the reels during regular spins. They only appear by being placed by the Witch Level feature. Wilds substitute for anything except scatter symbols and are worth up to 250x for a line of 5 wilds.
Free Spins Bonus
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols awards 10, 15, or 30 free spins, respectively. It is possible to win a further +3, +4, or +5 free spins by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters in the feature, respectively. All Witch levels are set to zero when free spins start. Each time a scatter symbol hits, the level of the Witch above it increases by +1 up to a maximum of 5. The Witch levels do not reset for the duration of a free spins session.
Feature Buy
The free spins round can be activated by buying it for 100 times the bet.
Snowflake Sorcery: Slot Verdict
If you missed the multiple uses of the word cute in the intro, let's reiterate by saying Snowflake Sorcery is a cute game. It's got a sort of old-school Zelda meets Salazar the Alchemist meets kittens with mittens thing going on. So far does Stakelogic push the game into adorable territory it might get a little nauseous for some. Let's just say if you were thrilled by the digit-slicing antics of Outsourced's Slash feature (which was eventually removed from the slot), then a slot where kitties with wings appear might not hit the same sort of chord. However, there is room for all sorts of tastes, and Snowflake Sorcery may find a match amongst players looking for a pretty as a picture witch slot.
However, Snowflake Sorcery is for gambling, after all, so while players are staring into its big anime eyes like a smitten teenager, the game likely has no trouble stabbing them in the back if it's not in the mood. The base game is nothing special, either. It's possible to score Witches of various levels, though perhaps don't expect big things in this phase of play. One emphasis in Snowflake Sorcery is on getting levelled up Witches, and this only really happened to a noticeable extent in the free spins round. It was alright. Wild adding effects are generally always appreciated. The features and the game as a whole might have been more exciting if paired with a ways-to-win system or had multipliers squeezed in there somewhere, but that might be asking too much.
As it is, Snowflake Sorcery can conjure up wins to a cap of 6,000 times the stake, which would ignite a toasty glow on pretty much anyone's brazier. Surely, at least, for players who find Snowflake Sorcery to be an attractive option. It's a charmingly designed game, quite unique in its own way when looking at the total package, almost lullaby-like at times, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint.
Fair
For a charming game featuring witches and winged kittens, Snowflake Sorcery is an option.
